Description
This coffee is grown in the Central Highlands of Chiapas, Mexico by members of the indigenous Mayan Tzeltal culture. Raised organically, this cooperative holds a USDA certification for the coffee. A tremendous amount of work goes into the growing, harvesting, and processing of these exceptional beans which is truly reflected in the final cup! This ‘Kulaktik” coffee means vine in the native Tzeltal language – truly a community strengthened by working together.
The varietals that compose this exceptional coffee are Bourbon, Caturra, and Typica. Heirloom Mayan cacao is grown in adjacent plots to this coffee which lend a distinctive chocolate taste and mouthfeel to the brew. Caramel and toasted almond notes also provide a pleasant finish to this balanced coffee.
